The Agar Family

Descended from James Agar and Mary Wemyss.

James and Mary's daughter Mary married James Smyth. James Smyth's great-grandfather was William Smyth, whose third great-granddaughter Dorothea Ingram married Matthew Blood - and later took the name Blood-Smyth. The Agars are therefore a related line, although descended from the Smyths and not from Edmund Blood.

James and Mary's daughter Ellis, Countess of Brandon, married Sir Theobald Burke, 7th Viscount Mayo, whose family were cousins to the Blood family.

James and Mary's son Henry was great-great grandfather of Sir Edward John Sydney Christian Wellbore Ellis Agar, 5th Earl of Normanton, who married Lady Fiona Pratt. Lady Fiona was descended from the Smyth family.
