The Baronetcy of Baring of Larkbeer, County Southampton, in the Baronetage of England, was created on 29 May 1793 for Francis Baring, the founder of Barings Bank.

Sir Francis Thornhill Baring, 3rd Bt., was created Baron Northbrook, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, on 4 January 1866.

The 2nd Baron Northbrook, Sir Thomas George Baring, was created Viscount Baring of Lee and Earl of Northbrook, on 10 Jun 1876.

On the death of the 2nd Earl, Sir Francis George Baring, the Viscountcy and Earldom became extinct. The Barony and Baronetcy reverted to his cousin, who was not in the line of succession to the Viscountcy or Earldom.

The younger brother of the 2nd Earl, Arthur Napier Thomas Baring, had died on 7 Sep 1870, aged only 16. The 1st Earl had only two sons, and therefore as of 12 Apr 1929, the Earldom of Northbrook and the Viscountcy of Baring of Lee both became extinct. This, however, did not apply to the Barony of Northbrook, nor to the Baronetcy of Baring of Larkbeer.
