<p>Descended from Mark Blood, of Applevale, Co. Clare, Ireland.</p>

<p>Mark was a 2nd great-grandson of Edmund Blood of Makeney; for his ancestry, see <a href="blood_applevale.shtml#blood_424">The Bloods of Applevale</a>.</p>

<p>Near Ballysheen is a huge rock, which is named  Cloughlea, or Cloughmornia. According to legend, the long straight gashes in the side of Cloughlea came from Finn Maccumhail and his warriors, sharpening their swords on the rock.</p>
