Some sources show Thomas as having died in Kilnaboy Castle, Co. Clare, Ireland. I think this is probably in error, as there is no record of Thomas having gone to Ireland. His brother, Edmund, went as a Captain with Lord Inchiquin's forces, "to introduce law and order among the wild and unruly", and it was he who built Kilnaboy Castle. However, their father Edmund and other brothers remained in England, and there appears to be no record of Thomas having actually gone to Ireland.
Other sources show Thomas as having died in Ruddington, Nottingham, England. There are certainly Bloods in Ruddington today, but it is doubtful that they are descended from Thomas. I have traced the more recent ones back to William Blood, born in about 1716-1718. However, I cannot find a connection between William and the Bloods listed here, so I have not included William and his descendants in this Blood Family tree. There seems to be no proof that this Thomas Blood from Duffield, Derbyshire, went to live in Ruddington at any time, or that the Bloods of Ruddington of either today or the 16th century, are descended from Edmund Blood of Makeney, and accordingly I have not included the Ruddington line.
A James Blood of Ruddington emigrated to the USA in the 1600s with his wife, Eleanor Harrison, and children Richard, Robert, John, James and Mary. Once again, there does not appear to be any proof that James is related to the Bloods of Makeney. I have seen James listed as the son of Thomas, but he was apparently a cordwainer fron Nottingham, and any connection is postulation only. Therefore, I have not included the Bloods of the USA, descended from James and Eleanor, in this site.
Some sources list Robert's death as being in Duffield, Derbyshire. Others show it as 16 Sep 1646, Tamworth, Staffordshire, England, and show him as having married and had a son, Richard, born 22 Feb 1629 in Tamworth, Staffordshire, England. I do not concur that Richard is Robert's son, as he is some 60 years younger than Robert. Internet sources are only as accurate as their information sources, and therefore I have at this stage decided not to include the Tamworth line in this site. I have seen mention of Burke's Landed Gentry of Ireland, 1889, as a reference, and having made arrangements to get a copy of this, I will check the authenticity of the reference, and update this page accordingly. I confess that I am wondering why Robert would be listed in that work, as he was not living in Ireland.....
