THE CHRISTOE FAMILY
of Australia

Descended from John Penrose Christoe and Dorothea Juliana Smyth-Blood. Dorothea was born in Ireland, and John in Wales.

Dorothea and John Penrose Christoe were married in 1852 at Kapunda, South Australia. He was a mining surveyor, and they left Kapunda and returned to Britain, where their first three children were born. In 1858 they returned to Australia; their fourth son, Neptune, was born aboard the ship during the journey.

They then settled at Cadiangullong (Cadia), a mining town in New South Wales. They had six more children, four of whom were born in New South Wales. The other two, John and Victoria, were born back in Kapunda.

At some stage, the family moved to Queensland.

Dorothea was a 6th great grand-daughter of Edmuund Blood of Makeney; for her ancestry, see The Smyth-Blood Family.
