The Barony of Howick of Glendale, of Howick, Northumberland, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, was created on 8 February 1960 for Charles Evelyn Baring.

Sir Charles was the son of Sir Evelyn Baring, 1st Earl of Cromer, and a great-grandson of Sir Francis Baring, 1st Bt. Baring of Larkbeer and founder of Barings Bank. Sir Evelyn was also the great-nephew of Sir Alexander Baring, 1st Baron Ashburton, the second cousin once removed of Sir Francis Thornhill Baring, 1st Baron Northbrook, and the nephew of Sir Edward Baring, 1st Baron Revelstoke of Membland.
